OUR TEAM

European University Institute, Migration Policy Centre

´The European University Institute (EUI) was founded in 1972 by the member states of the European Community to provide advanced academic and cultural training on a European basis. Research is conducted in a European perspective and the approach is fundamentally interdisciplinary and comparative. Both basic and applied research in History, Law, Economics, and Political and Social Sciences, is done in the Departments and the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS).

The EUI has, at any given moment, about 500 Ph.D. students, about 100 post-doctoral fellows, about 50 full time professors and about 30 other part-time and visiting academics recruited from the EU and beyond. Through the academic networks of all these scholars, the EUI has contacts with academics and academic institutions all over the world. The RSCAS is devoted to inter-disciplinary and comparative research and to promote work on the major issues facing the process of integration and European society. Its main objectives are to produce research of the highest intellectual quality; to collaborate with other centres of research excellence; to provide opportunities for young scholars working in its key fields; and to promote dialogue with the world of practice. The research agenda is organised around a set of core themes and is continuously evolving, reflecting the changing agenda of European integration and the expanding membership of the European Union. The Centre hosts major research programmes and projects, and a range of working groups and ad hoc initiatives. The Migration Policy Centre – MPC, based at the RSCAS, currently has among its staff: 1 Director, 1 Deputy Director, 2 Part-time Professors, 7 Research Fellows, 3 Research Associates, several Visiting Fellow/Short-term Visitors, 1 Webmaster and 3 full-time staff members (2 Administrative Assistants and 1 Project Manager). The EUI and its RSCAS have been involved in the Framework Programmes 4th – 7th and now H2020 for years, many times as co-ordinators of research consortia.
