Prof. Andrew Geddes, Chair in Migration Studies and is Director of the Migration Policy Centre at the EUI and leader of WP1, introduces the initial work that will be conducted within the ASILE project. The aim of the background research will consist of providing an inventory of previous state of the art research and knowledge on asylum governance, and a typology of (mobility and containment) instruments and arrangements, and a review of their main characteristics, in Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Jordan, South Africa and Turkey.
